In the conflict-ridden Gaza Strip, the claim that Israel is deliberately using starvation as a weapon has fueled international outrage. Yet much of this anger is rooted in unverified or distorted information, often circulated by actors with vested interests. By obstructing aid or manipulating its flow, groups like Hammas have contributed to humanitarian crises while simultaneously shaping a narrative that directs global hatred toward Israel.
This tactic has, in turn, shaped international perceptions, leading many to accuse Israel of deliberately using starvation as a weapon of war, almost the same term used by its enemies calling it genocidal State. Hamas’s control over the flow of aid has allowed the group to manipulate global narratives and place disproportionate blame on Israel.
Some argue that only through flooding with food Gaza — can Hammas be stripped of its leverage and prevent it from continuing to use their own civilian population of suffering as a tool in its broader political strategy,
This reflects the very same tactic—manipulating public opinion—that was previously discussed on this blog in relation to the Israeli response following the October 7, 2023 massacre carried out by Hamas and its proxies. At that time, they deliberately failed to provide bomb shelters for the Palestinian population in Gaza, resulting in civilian casualties that were subsequently blamed on Israel.
Hammas is shaping the narrative.
The power of rumor in war is potent—it shapes perceptions, policies, and emotions. When falsehoods thrive, they obscure responsibility and deepen division, prolonging suffering on all sides.
